Kudos to Homeland Security
It’s easy to criticize the US Homeland Security Department; they sure give us enough to complain about. So it was nice to read this BBC story explaining that they are now reviewing whether or not they properly handled the detention of a Syrian-born Canadian citizen, who may have been tortured during his time in custody.
Inspector-General Richard Skinner told a US Congressional hearing on Thursday that the new evidence contradicted an earlier conclusion that US immigration agents had acted appropriately in deporting him.
Glad to see someone in this administration has a conscience and willingness to admit wrongdoing.
